We are all probably busy running around getting ready for Christmas. The shopping, the decorating the special foods, the music and on it goes. But are we really prepared for Christmas? That first Christmas there were preparations as well. God prepared his people by sending one ahead of the Lord to herald his coming. The birth of John the Baptist was preparation for the coming Messiah. In the midst of a family with their own difficulties and concerns, their own unanswered prayers; God not only meets their needs but prepares many others to receive the gift that will be given; “For unto us a child is born and unto us a son is given”.
